we all know it's a fast paced world but rushing communication and forgetting important details ends up slowing down a process and not speeding it up as intended. Being specific with instructions and explanations for a few more seconds of time ends up saving minutes and hours later.

Funny how sometimes I'll challenge myself with a new technique or look that is harder and more time intensive than my norm then halfway through I'll realize it's not looking good and go back to my easier-quicker technique that looks better. I don't mind the failed attempt but would love to have that time back!

Weird to feel more alone nowadays in the age of computer aided online social networking. So many more opportunities to talk to each other and share information to help each other but we end up just talking about ourselves, again.

Some people mean well for their business and families but have taken on more than they can handle or can't handle parts of their job and are therefore wound so tight trying to survive in this land of competition they act like jerks constantly from their shot nerves. I have sympathy but please please please get a new job or sell the house or car you're working so hard at a job you hate to pay for.

I updated the website with a new look and easier to use layout. I cut down on the illustration and it's now focused on the more commercial design parts of my portfolio. I hope you like it, please have a look around, thanks.

but LA will try to kill, as a friend once said. Its a desert, an artifical oasis, the sun overhead and the relfection from the waters edge will heat you up and dry you out. Wherever you go the cars and will be coming a you left and right, dodging accidents everyday. Don't think about drinking the water. You need wealth to get away from it all and save yourself. Looks are deceiving, life is shorter here. And lets not forget the air!

A theory...

First: Networking.
Can you get your foot in the door, network then know the "right people"

Second: Stress.
Once you know the right people can you handle stress of the big leagues?

Last: Talent.
Important, but if you can't navigate through step 1 and 2 noone will know your talent.

Finally (WHEW) finished my website...

I figured it was now time more than ever to finish my website. I had a couple of other projects cooking but this one took the forefront and I spent 5+ weeks on it. Every day after work, on weekends, even on holiday vacation I thought and about and came up with new ideas for it. I get like that with big projects, especially if they involve something I'm involved in or really into. I created new art for it for each sub-page (Illustration, Design, etc) and created animated gifs that I hid throughout, yeah thats right theres 20 different hidden images (I had to keep myself amused somehow).After I finished I sent an email out and posted on some message boards and got some good technical feedback and feedback on the content which I used, pretty invaluable. Now it's done and I'm enjoying drawing n stuff.

Post Card Mailer Design

This is a post card mailer to be sent out to drum up business for a Portland based combat sports related training facility. They wanted to capitalize on peoples desire to stick to their New Years resolutions of keeping fit. As you can see by the steps at the bottom it took a few tries to get it in the right direction, even with a color scheme and logo already in place. Sometimes that happens but if I stick with it I'll be pleasantly suprised by the results.
